Alex's Everything Bagel Pull Apart Bread

Ingredients:

Bread Dough:

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 1/3 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 3/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Alex's Version of Everything Bagel Topping:

  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

Prepping Bread Dough:

  1. In a large mixing bowl add yeast and sugar. Heat up milk to about 110 degrees. Pour warm milk on top of yeast and sugar and whisk gently. Allow yeast mixture to sit for 10 minutes (should be frothy).

  2. Add butter, egg, flour and salt to bowl and beat on low speed for 3 minutes. Transfer soft dough to a lightly floured work surface and with lightly floured hands, knead dough for 1 minute (if dough is too sticky, just add 1 to 3 tablespoons of flour to dough) and shape into a ball.

  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Cream Cheese Filling:

  1. In a separate bowl, add cream cheese, butter, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, shredded cheese and salt. Mix until well combined. Set aside.

Everything Bagel Topping:

  1. In a small bowl, combine poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onion powder, garlic, salt and melted butter. Set aside.

Assemble the Bread:

  1. Grease a loaf pan with oil and set aside.

  2. Punch down the dough and place on a lightly floured work surface and with a floured rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. (The dough can be rolled out into any shape, as long as it is 1/4 inch thick).

  3. Spread cream cheese filling on top of the dough. Using a 4 inch cookie cutter, cut into circles. Fold circles in half and line them up in the prepared loaf pan, with the round side facing up.

  4. Cover the loaf pan with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for about an hour. While the dough is rising, preheat the oven 350 degrees.

  5. After the second rise, brush bread dough with 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle the Everything Bagel Seasoning on top.

  6. Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for about 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown.

  7. Remove the loaf pan from the oven and let the bread cool inside the pan for 10 minutes. Serve up warm and enjoy!
